Abstract
Modern information and communications technologies are transforming the way people learn. E-learning provides new possibilities for personalized learning at home or in the workplace, reduces the need for costly classroom training, and enables an optimal balance between traditional and inn vative forms of knowledge transfer. Today many universities and institutes provide web-based on-line courses for their students. But facts have proven that content creaction for online courses are time-consuming and costly. Also most of them do not support multimedia-based online courses. A simple and efficient solution of content creation for online courses is strongly required. Our new system, tele-TASK - Teleteaching Anywhere Solution Kit, paves the way for these requirements. It opens up a new world of learning opportunities to learners, trainers, course authors, companies and educational institutions. With the help of the newly developed system tele-TASK - Teleteaching Anywhere Solution Kit - a new, drastically simplified entrance technology for on-line lectures has been reached. Out of the apartment or the office, each PC user with a suitable Internet connection can follow online lessons comfortably. Even an interested layman is able to access the courses. Not only contents of teaching, which are presented to the students in the lecture-room by either a whiteboard or a video beamer, but simultaneously also a video and audio of the lecturer are delivered. Navigation bars for accessing different parts in the recorded lecture are included. tele-TASK supports all usual platforms, different net bandwidths from Modem to xDSL, arbitrary presentation programs and needs no special software installations, configurations and nopre-cognitions by the end-user. tele-TASK also provides a special Hardware for producing Real or Mpeg4-based tele-lectures in several Bandwidths. At the ACM SIGUCCS Conference 2002, tele-TASK got the Einstein Award for the most exceptional and outstanding project
